1,085,812. Chucks. K. KAWASAKI. Jan. 13, 1965 [Feb. 1, 1964], No. 1465/65. Heading B3B. A drill chuck comprises threaded jaws 7, moved by a tightening ring 9, and levers 17, actuated by a conical threaded ring 13 to provide an additional clamping force. The chuck is mounted by a tapered socket 3. The ring 9 may be split or formed in halves and is attached to a ring 11 which is rotated manually to operate the jaws 7. Rotation of the cap ring 13 tilts the levers 17 which are fulcrumed on a shoulder 21 and force the ring 9 downwardly to tighten the jaws 7 more firmly. Rotation of the cap 13 is resisted by a spring-pressed ball 24 which can engage a recess 23. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 936,722. |
