[Objective] To provide a biological molecule detecting apparatus capable of highly sensitive measurements. [Constitution] A laser beam is emitted onto fluorescent molecules within a solution to orient the fluorescent molecules. The direction in which the laser beam is emitted is switched to switch the direction of the transition moment of the fluorescent particles to be parallel to or perpendicular to the vibrating direction of excitation light, which is linearly polarized. Thereby, the fluorescent molecules of free molecules and binding molecules can be switched between an excited state and a non excited state. There is a difference in the speeds at which the orientation directions change for molecules which have undergone antigen antibody reactions and for molecules which have not undergone antigen antibody reactions. Therefore, the fluorescence contributed by fluorescent molecules associated with free molecules and the fluorescence contributed by fluorescent molecules associated with binding molecules can be calculated respectively, to measure the concentration of a detection target substance with high sensitivity.
|
