The present invention relates to a device for the detecting an open and unattended closure, such as a door or lid, of an enclosure, such as a cupboard, cabinet, box, drawer, or room, in order to prevent theft from the enclosure. The device comprises a detector, such as a light detector, arranged to detect if the closure is open; and a detector, such as a passive infrared sensor PIR, arranged to detect if the closure is unattended. The detectors are connected to an alert means for warning a user to an open and unattended condition of the enclosure. The invention is particularly suited to medicine / drug cabinets / trolleys which need to be used unimpeded for periods of time by staff but must not be left accessible without a member of staff present. |
