A steam cleaner (especially for cleaning floors) comprises a heating element disposed in a housing 1, and a passageway in the housing extending from an inlet to an outlet so that water passing there through may be converted into steam. The outlet may comprise an array of apertures 8 in the housing, and a flange 10 may extend downwardly from the housing and surrounds the apertures. The flange may have a lip 12 which may contact a floor surface to form an enclosure for steam emitted from the outlet in use. The passageway may comprise upper and lower section, which each comprises core and peripheral chambers. The water may be heated in the upper section, and water/steam may pass successively through the upper core, upper peripheral, lower peripheral and lower core chambers, an outlet being provided in the lower core chamber. |
