A rack for games such as pool and snooker comprises two main sides 1 and 2 adjoined forming an apex 3 with an angle of about 60 degrees, and a cross brace 4 fixed on top of both sides 1 and 2 so as to form a triangular rack. The cross brace 4 is positioned so as to sit above table surface 6 at a distance greater than the diameter of the balls 5. The fixing of a cross brace 4 on top of the two main sides 1 and 2 achieves triangulation adding strength and stability, while also providing a space through which the balls 5 can pass freely as the rack is slid away from the stacked balls. The rack may be fitted with a gate 8 for more efficient compaction of the balls. The gate 8 may be retained in an inoperative position by magnets (10, figure 3).
