摘要 A catalyst composition for the homopolymerization of propylene, or the copolymerization or block copolymerization, of propylene with a different C2-C6 1-olefin, and which contains three components comprises copulverizing a mixture of (a) violet TiCl3, or TiCl3 containing AlCl3 in the lattice structure, and (b) a monoether or a monoketone, and adding to the pulverized mixture a minor amount of (c) a dialkyl aluminium monohalide. Titanium tetrachloride may also be present. The different olefin may be ethylene, butene-1, pentene-1, or hexene-1. The polymerization is preferably effected in an inert solvent such as n-heptane, and hydrogen may be present. The polymers are recovered by conventional techniques. The preferred ethers are di-n-butyl ether and diphenyl ether. Examples of ketones are methyalkylketones, acetophenone, and diphenyl ketone. The Specification contains twenty-four examples of which a number relate to the preparation of the catalyst and the homopolymerization of propylene, and the rest to normal copolymers and block copolymers formation. The polymers may be fractionated with boiling heptane.
