A television camera dolly having a camera and a monitor as a view-finder mounted thereon, is such that on raising or lowering the camera, the view-finder either makes no vertical movement, or a smaller vertical movement than the camera. As described, the dolly comprises a luffing jib 17 pivotally mounted on a horizontal shaft 18, which shaft is supported in a fork 16 rotatable about a vertical axis. A bracket 19 is pivotally mounted on one end of the jib 17, and is linked by a rod 20 to a shaft 22 mounted at the upper end of the fork 16, such that on tilting the jib 17 the bracket retains its original angle to the horizontal. The bracket 19 has a fork pivotable about a vertical axis mounted thereon which carries a television camera C tiltably mounted therein. At the other end of the jib 17 are pivotably mounted two upright struts 24 connected to the shaft 22 by rods 26. A control box 27 and the monitor 32 are mounted at the lower and upper ends of the struts 24 respectively, such that they retain their angles to the horizontal during the tilting of the jib 17. The ratio of the distance from shaft 18 to bracket 19 to the distance from shaft 18 to struts 24 may be 2-5:1. The monitor 32 may alternatively be mounted on the fork 16 where it is vertically stationary. |
