981,326. Jet looms. MACHINEFABRIEK L. TE STRAKE N. V. April 24, 1961 [April 26,1960], No. 14769/61. Heading D1E. A jet loom which inserts "hairpins" of weft has a suction operated weft storage member 5 and a pivotable blowing nozzle 9 which is also used as a suction operated storage member. In operation, the weft 3 is held between a cutter-clamp 14 and a clamp 6, the clamp 6 is opened and a continuously operating roller 2 feeds weft which is sucked into the member 5, the nozzle 9 then sucks in sufficient weft for one pick, the clamp 14 opens, the nozzle 9 pivots to face the warp, the clamp 6 closes, the jet 10 is operated to insert the weft and with the clamp 6 still closed weft continues to be drawn into the member 5. The inserted weft is beaten up and the nozzle 9 is pivoted back to the Fig. 4 position, a weft is inserted from the other side of the shed and beaten up whilst the weft is again drawn into the nozzle 9 from the member 5 on release of the clamp 6. The clamps 6 and 14 are then operated and the weft is severed on the fabric side of 14, the nozzle 9 pivots and the jet 11 is then operated to blow in the other half of the "hairpin".
