Systems for removing air from the patient's peritoneal cavity

A patient connection system for peritoneal dialysis is described. The system comprises: a housing (12); a fill container occluder valve (14a) carried within the housing for receiving a fill container line (16a) connected to a fill container (18a); a drain container occluder valve (14b) carried within the housing for receiving a drain container line (16b) connected to a drain container (18b); a shunt spike (22) held by the housing and translatably mounted thereon for simultaneously and removably fluidly connecting to the fill container line and the drain container line to allow fresh dialysis fluid to run from the fill container to the drain container to prime the fill container line when the fill and drain container occluder valves are open; and a patient transfer set holder provided by the housing, the patient transfer set holder configured to allow a patient transfer set (24) to be connected to the fill container line after the fill and drain container occluder valves have been closed and the shunt spike has been disconnected from the fill and drain container lines.
