发明名称 Lubricant
摘要 Lubricating oil compositions comprise, as dispersants and oxidation and corrosion inhibitors, oil-soluble phosphorus-containing polymers prepared by phosphosulphurizing an olefin polymer of molecular weight 300 to 100,000 by heating at above 80 DEG C. with 1.5 to 25 weight per cent of a phosphorus sulphide and at least partially neutralizing the product, optionally after hydrolysis at 100 DEG to 300 DEG C., with an hydroxy compound of formula R1-C(R)2CH2OH where R1 is hydroxy, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl and R is alkyl or hydroxyalkyl. The polymer may be derived from ethylene, propene, butene-1, isobutene, hexene-1, octene-1, 2-methylheptene-1, 3-cyclohexylbutene-1, 2-methyl-5-propylhexene-1, butene-2, pentene-3 or octene-4, optionally together with styrene, butadiene, isoprene, piperylene, chloroprene, p - methyl-styrene or hexadiene-1,3. Phosphosulphurization may be effected with phosphorus trisulphide, sesquisulphide, pentasulphide or heptasulphide. Hydrolysis may be effected with water or steam, and specified hydroxy compounds are 2,2-dimethyl ethylene glycol, trimethylol ethane, pentaerythritol, 2,2,4-trimethyl - 1,3 - pentanediol, 2,2 - dimethyl - 1-butanol, 2 - methyl - 2 - ethyl - 1 - hexanol, 2-methylol - 2 - ethyl - 1 - pentanol and 2,2,4,7-tetramethyl - 3,6 - dihydroxy - 1 - octanol. The compositions may also comprise conventional additives such as ash-containing detergents and dispersants, e.g. oil-soluble alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, magnesium, zinc and nickel salts of sulphonic, carboxylic and phosphorus acids; ashless detergents, e.g. hydrocarbon substituted succinic anhydride/alkylene polyamine condensate; extreme pressure agents and oxidation and corrosion inhibitors, e.g. chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons, organic sulphides and polysulphides, phosphosulphurized hydrocarbons, di - and trihydrocarbon phosphites, and metal thiocarbamates, phosphinodithioates and phosphorodithioates; pour point depressants, e.g. polyolefins and polyalkyl methacrylates; and antifoams, e.g. alkyl siloxanes, polyalkyl methacrylates and alkyl phenol/formaldehyde/polyamine condensates. Examples describe mineral oil solutions of products comprising polyisobutenes phosphosulphurized and neutralized with (1 and 13) pentaerythritol and (14) 2,2-dimethyl - 1 - butanol; and hydrolysed with steam and neutralized with (2 to 5 and 11) pentaerythritol, (6) 2,2-dimethyl-1-butanol, (7) trimethylol ethane, (8) 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentane-diol, (9) neopentyl alcohol and (10) 2,2-dimethyl-1-hexanol. Further examples describe lubricating compositions comprising SAE 20 mineral lubricating oil and (A) the product of 2, zinc salt of a phosphorodithioic acid derived from phosphorus pentasulphide, isobutyl alcohol and primary amyl alcohols, and a polyalkyl siloxane; (B) product of 3, barium salt obtained by neutralizing a hydrolysed phosphosulphurized polypropylene with barium oxide in the presence of heptyl phenol, and a polyalkyl siloxane; (C) product of 3, zinc salt of A, a polyisobutene substituted succinic anhydride reacted with pentaethylene hexamine and boric acid; (D) product of 6; (E) product of 13; (F) product of 10, zinc salt of phosphorodithioic acid prepared by reacting phosphorus pentasulphide with isooctyl alcohol, and a polyalkyl siloxane; and (G) product of 11, zinc salt of A and a polyalkyl siloxane.ALSO:Oil-soluble phosphorus-containing polymers are prepared by phosphosulphurizing an olefin polymer of molecular weight 300 to 100,000 by heating at above 80 DEG C. with 1.5 to 25 weight per cent of a phosphorus sulphide, and at least partially neutralizing the product at 50 DEG to 300 DEG C. with a hydroxy compound of formula R1-C(R)2CH2OH where R is alkyl or hydroxyalkyl and R1 is hydroxy, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl. The product may be hydrolysed at 100 DEG to 300 DEG C. prior to neutralization. The polymer may be derived from ethylene, propene, butene-1, isobutene, hexene-1, octene-1, 2-methyl-heptene-1, 3-cyclohexylbutene-1, 2-methyl-5-propyl - hexene - 1, butene - 2, pentene - 3 and octene-4, optionally together with styrene, butadiene, isoprene, piperylene, chloroprene, p-methyl styrene and hexadiene-1,3. Phosphosulphurization may be effected with phosphorus trisulphide, sesquisulphide, pentasulphide or heptasulphide. Hydrolysis may be effected by water or steam. Specified hydroxy compounds are 2,2-dimethyl ethylene glycol, trimethylol ethane, pentaerythritol, 2,2,4 - trimethyl - 1,3-pentanediol, 2,2 - dimethyl - 1 - butanol, 2-methyl - 2 - ethyl - 1 - hexanol, 2 - methylol- 2 - ethyl - 1 - pentanol and 2,2,4,7 - tetra-methyl - 3,6 - dihydroxy - 1 - octanol. The products are useful as dispersants and oxidation and corrosion inhibitors in lubricating, fuel and cutting oils, as emulsifiers, and as fireretardant additives in hydraulic fluids. In examples, polyisobutenes are phosphosulphurized with phosphorus pentasulphide, and (1) neutralized with pentaerythritol; and hydrolysed with steam and neutralized with (2 to 5 and 11) pentaerythritol, (6) 2,2-dimethyl-1-butanol, (7) trimethylol ethane, (8) 2,2,4-tri-methyl-1,3-pentanediol, (9) neopentyl alcohol, and (10) 2,2-dimethyl-1-hexanol.
