The device (1) has a workpiece retainer for retaining a workpiece, and a first linear guide is arranged for linearly displacing the workpiece retainer in a pressing device along an x-axis, where the x-axis is aligned transverse to the pressing direction. A second linear guide is arranged for linearly displacing a tool receiver in the pressing device along a y-axis, where the y-axis is aligned transverse to the pressing direction and transverse to the x-axis. An arresting device is provided for fixing the first and/or second linear guide devices. An independent claim is also included for a pressing device.
