<p>The invention relates to a composite wire reinforcement (R-2) coated with rubber, which can be used in particular for reinforcing a finished article made of rubber, such as a tire, and which comprises one or more textile or metal reinforcement wires (20) and a rubber composition, referred to as a coating rubber (21), coating each wire, characterized in that said coating composition (21) comprises at least one diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler, between 10 and 150 pce of a lamellar filler, and a cross-linking system. Said coating rubber (21) has enhanced water-barrier properties, thereby imparting to the composite wire reinforcement (R-2) of the invention better protection against risk of corrosion or ageing caused by the penetration of water, for example, through the tread of a tire.</p> |
