PURPOSE: A digital broadcast transmission method is provided to supply user convenience when a closed caption is provided in accordance with an open cable and the cable ready standard. CONSTITUTION: A DTVCC(Digital TeleVision Closed-Caption) decoder(507) generates a digital caption by using signals processed through a user processor(504) and a video parser(505). An analog closed-caption decoder(506) generates an analog caption. An MPEG-2(Moving Pictures Experts Group-2) video decoder(508) generates a video program. A user graphic unit(510) generates a GUI(Graphical User Interface) screen. A video synthesizer(509) synthesizes analog or digital caption data, the video program, and an OSD(On Screen Display) menu. A video reconstruction device(511) encodes the analog caption in VBI(Vertical Blanking Interval) 21st line.
