Device 10 for cutting through adhesive to remove a windscreen has a wire wound by spools 26, 27 mounted on a base 12, cross over rollers 23, 24 mounted to the base e.g. co-axially and equidistant from the spools, guiding the wire onto the spools and guide rollers 20, 21 mounted on the base e.g. around and overlapping the periphery, guiding the wire, maintaining a sharp angle (55, Figure 3b) as it passes through the adhesive. The rollers 20 may be more closely spaced on one side of the device. The spools may be ratcheted to turn in opposite directions to minimise the angle the wire must bend about the cross over rollers. In use the device is attached outside the vehicle using suction pad 70, the wire (50, Figure 3a) is aligned along the adhesive inside the vehicle and two ends are passed through a hole in the adhesive, over the guide and cross over rollers and onto the spools. As the spools are wound the wire cuts through the adhesive around the edge of the window (Figures 3a-c). A guide element (Figure 2a) may also be used to further guide the wire. |
