1,093,433. Setting eyelets. J. M. MONTOLIU. Feb. 12, 1965 [Feb. 13, 1964; Dec. 7, 1964], No. 6099/65. Heading B3U. [Also in Division F2] In a method of setting thermo-plastic eyelets the eyelet is softened by friction between the eyelet and a vibrating rivet set and is moulded by pressure from the set. The eyelet comprises a head 2 with prongs 3 which penetrate into the material M, and a tubular shank 1. The rivet set P comprises a central part S and a body with an annular depression P. The rivet set P has a reciprocatory motion only, the friction between the eyelet and the set generating heat which softens the end of the shank, which is then moulded to the shape of a head by downward movement of the set. |
