<p>The invention relates to a method for fixing an opening device (10; 10a) to a packaging container (1) made of a composite film (15; 15a; 15b; 15c), in particular a tubular bag, wherein the opening device (10; 10a) comprises a connecting flange (14; 14a) that can be fixed to the composite film (15; 15a; 15b; 15c), wherein the opening unit (10; 10a) comprises separating means (13) for severing at least one barrier layer (16, 17, 18, 18a) so as to form a passage in the composite film (15; 15a; 15b; 15c), and wherein the composite film (15; 15a; 15b; 15c) comprises at least one further layer (23, 24, 25) on the side facing away from the connecting flange (14; 14a). According to the invention, the at least one barrier layer (16, 17, 18, 18a) is part of the composite film (15; 15a; 15b; 15c) and at least one of the further layers (23, 24, 25) of the composite film (15; 15a; 15b; 15c) comprises a recess (30; 30a) in the region of the opening unit (10; 10a).
