PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an utterance detecting device, capable of dispensing with calibration work in an installation place while reducing dependency on quality of a microphone and an amplifier and the dependence on noise environment at the installation place. SOLUTION: This utterance detector for detecting utterance in the predetermined direction from acoustic signals obtained by two sound collectors cuts a low-frequency band component of the acoustic signal; calculates mutual correlation with respect to the acoustic signals from both of sound collectors, after adding an artificial signal to the cut low frequency band component; and detects utterance in a predetermined direction.
