The device (10) has a rectangular receiving deck (12) traversed via a conveyor belt for conveying a stack of mailpieces along a longitudinal referencing wall (16) from an inlet of the device toward a sloping surface (18). A deployable/retractable skid-forming part (46) is supported by a structure (44) secured to the device and pressed against the stack over entire length of the stack to jog the top of the stack. The part is connected to the structure in deployable/retractable manner via hinged support arms (48A, 48B) defining distinct height positions relative to the deck of the part.
