PURPOSE: A camera device for a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to prevent damage to the camera due to external force applied to the vehicle and to prevent moisture stagnating inside the camera device from freezing during wintertime. CONSTITUTION: A camera device for a vehicle comprises a housing(30), a guide block, a cover, a driver(90), a waterproofing unit, and a freeze prevention unit. The housing includes a transfer hole unit. The camera is installed in the guide block along the transfer hole unit. The cover opens and closes the transfer hole unit. The driver appears and disappears the guide block. The waterproofing unit prevents the inflow of moisture through the transfer hole unit. The freeze prevention unit prevents temperature inside the transfer hole unit from decreasing below a predetermined temperature. |
