Alkaline cleansing and rinsing agents, in solid form, which contain 40-95% of alkali together with foam suppressing addition compounds formed by ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide having a turbidity point in 1% aqueous solution of 10-60 DEG C., which are deposited on finely divided silica. The addition compounds are formed from ethylene oxide with a compound selected from fatty acids, fatty alcohols, fatty acid alkanolamides, alkyl phenols, polypropylene glycols and adducts of propylene oxide with aliphatic amines or polyamines or from propylene oxide with a compound selected from, polyalcohols, polyethylene glycols, sugars, short chain alkanolamides and aliphatic polyamines having 2 to 8 nitrogen atoms and 1 to 5 carbon atoms between nitrogen atoms. Acid salts such as primary-alkali phosphate and alkali bisulphate may also be present and other optional ingredients are orthophosphates, polymeric phosphates, soda, potash, gluconate and wetting agents. |
