PURPOSE: A continuous casting method and apparatus of slab are provided to prevent poor quality at both edges of slab by controlling the amount of cooling water according to areas of the slab and using different shapes of segment rolls according to cooling stages of the slab during secondary cooling of the slab. CONSTITUTION: A continuous casting method of slab is as follows. While slab(50) firstly cooled in a mold is guided via a plurality of rolls(110,210) and reduced, the slab is secondly cooled by cooling water sprayed from a nozzle arranged between the rolls. During the secondary cooling process, the amount of cooling water sprayed to the center portion of the slab to be different from the amount of cooling water sprayed to both edges of the slab in the lateral direction. An unhardened layer in the slab is maintained thicker at the center than at both edges of the slab. During the secondary cooling process, a hardened layer at the center of the slab is reduced by the rolled later than at both edges of the slab. |
