PURPOSE: An engine torque control device and a method thereof are provided to prevent damages to the other controller as the controlled torque of an engine is not delayed and restored to the value of the torque before the control. CONSTITUTION: An engine torque control device comprises an engine(120) and an engine control unit(110). The engine includes a throttle valve(121) and an ignition unit(122). Power corresponding to the torque set according to the control signals is generated by the throttle valve and the ignition unit. The engine control unit sets the torque according to the result of a determined message when a torque control request message is received from the other control unit of a vehicle and outputs the control signals in order to generate the power corresponding to the preset torque.
