PURPOSE: A share mesh protection switching method and a device thereof are provided to prevent a chaotic situation in a share protection segment by delaying protection switching operation through an APS(Automatic Protection Switching) protocol. CONSTITUTION: An end node D reports a protection switching event to a share node Q after detecting errors of a working path W2(S301,S302). The end node D waits until a timer unit is terminated by operating the timer unit(S303). The share node Q confirms whether a share protection segment P-Q is available(S304). The end node D executes a protection switching process to a protection path P2 according to a linear protection switching protocol after the time set in the timer unit is terminated(S305).
