PURPOSE: A method for controlling the torque limit of an engine is provided to accurately control an engine limit as input torque is converted into engine torque by the characteristic value of a torque converter. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling the torque limit of an engine comprises following steps. Input torque is calculated using engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute) and engine torque(S10). The input torque is compared with pre-set torque(S20). The engine torque according to the input torque is converted on the basis of the pre-set torque when the input torque exceeds the pre-set torque(S30,S40). The engine limit control is performed on the basis of the engine torque(S50).
