PURPOSE: Soft-decision demapping apparatus and method are provided to reduce complexity of calculation and to extract soft-decision value with a small error to transmit big data at high speed without an error in a digital satellite broadcasting and communication system. CONSTITUTION: A region division unit(210) divides one specific quadrant in the four quadrants of the constellation map in which a reception signal symbol locates into a plurality of first regions using a plurality of constellation point decision lines. A constellation point decision unit(220) detects constellation points used for each soft decision of N reception bits comprising the reception signal symbol using more than two constellation points forming the one first region in which the reception signal symbol locates in the plurality of the first regions. A soft-decision unit(230) individually performs soft-decision on the N reception bits using the detected constellation points.
