PURPOSE: An interference filter and a display device are provided to offer a practical color filter which uses low power electric, to increase optical use efficiency, and to have stable properties in a display device such as a liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: An interference filter includes a frame(11), a lower side semi-transmissive layer(21) equipped on the main surface of the frame, and an upper side semi-transmissive layer(22) equipped on the lower side semi-transmissive layer. The frame, the lower side semi-transmissive layer(21), and the upper side semi-transmissive layer(22) form a first area(20a) which is juxtaposed in a plane parallel to the main surface and selectively transpiercing the blue light, a second area(20b) which selectively transpierces the green light, and a third area(20c) which selectively transpierces the red light. A distance between the lower side semi-transmissive layer(21) and the upper side semi-transmissive layer(22) in the second area(20b) is shorter than a distance between the lower side semi-transmissive layer(21) and the upper side semi-transmissive layer(22) in the first area(20a), and shorter than a distance between the lower side semi-transmissive layer(21) and the upper side semi-transmissive layer(22) in the third area(20c). |
