The invention relates to a storage device (1) to be built into the passenger compartment of a vehicle, comprising a stationary mounting and at least one movable surface moving into a plurality of positions, i.e. between a first position corresponding to the closing of the storage space (R), and a second position corresponding to the opening of the storage space (R), the opening of the storage space (R) enabling access to the inside of said storage space. The movable surface includes a plurality of reflective areas (SR1, SR2, 16) and the mounting includes a plurality of emitters (L1, L2, L3, L4) emitting a light signal, and a plurality of sensors (C1, C2), one position of the device enabling the light signal from one of the emitters (L1, L2, L3, L4) to be reflected on one of the reflective areas (SR1, SR2,16), the detection of the reflected signal by means of the sensor (C1, C2) enabling the activation or deactivation of the generation of a lighting instruction for a lighting device so as to provide light or turn off the light inside the storage device (R). |
