PURPOSE: A load limiter for a vehicle is provided to vary an extractive load for extracting a webbing depending on the velocity variation of a vehicle, thereby optimally providing cushioning to a passenger throughout all velocity zone ranging from a low velocity, just before a vehicle collision, to a high velocity. CONSTITUTION: A load limiter for a vehicle includes a torsion bar(1), a load transmitter(3), a torque control rod(5), a webbing drum(9), and a velocity sensing actuation unit. The rotation of one end of the torsion bar is limited against a vehicle body. The load transmitter forms an arm radially and lengthily extended from the other end of the torsion bar. The torque control rod linearly moves along a length direction of the torsion bar so that a distance between the torsion bar and the portion of the torque control rod in contact with the load transmitter can vary. The torque control rod coaxially rotates with the torsion bar. The webbing drum allows the torque control rod to linearly move, and covers the outer side of the torque control rod. A webbing(7) is wound on the webbing drum. The velocity sensing actuation unit pushes the torque control rod towards the rod transmitter or pulls the torque control rod depending on the velocity variation of the vehicle. |
