PURPOSE: A device for measuring the thickness of the surface scales for a steel plate is provided to accurately measure the thickness of the scales formed on the surface of the steel plate, thereby improving the surface quality of the steel plate. CONSTITUTION: A device for measuring the thickness of the surface scales(S) for a steel plate(10) comprises a supporting unit(200), an ultrasonic wave generating unit(300), and a control room(400). The supporting unit is installed separately on the top of a transferring line(100) transferring the steel plate. The ultrasonic wave generating unit is installed to be moved upwards along the lower part of the supporting unit and generates ultrasonic signals by being oscillated by the scales on the surface of the steel plate.
