A power transmission system of a hybrid vehicle is provided to change the power transmission structure for enhancing the efficiency of power transmission by connecting first and second motor parts of a driving motor units to a third sun gear of a third planetary gear, and to a second ring gear of a second planetary gear respectively. A power transmission system of a hybrid vehicle has a planetary gear unit(10). The planetary gear includes first, second, and third planetary gears(12,14,16) and are installed in a transaxle housing(2). A driving motor unit(20) includes a first motor part(22) and a second motor part(24). The first motor part transmits the power to the third planetary gear. The second motor part transmits the power to a driving shaft(4) through the second planetary gear at the initial start of the hybrid vehicle, and supports an ignited engine(1) along with the first motor part renders the driving shaft operable with the power generated from the engine. A clutch unit(30) is installed on the planetary gear unit and regulates the power to allow the hybrid vehicle to be driven in a bifurcation region at a critical velocity when the ratio of the electrical energy, generated from a battery or the driving motor unit and the mechanical energy generated from the engine, becomes zero. A control unit(40) controls the driving motor unit and the clutch unit according to the driving condition of the vehicle. The first planetary gear is directly installed to the engine and receives the power generated from the engine. The first motor part is connected to a third sun gear(16b) of the third planetary gear, and the second motor part is installed to a second ring gear(14a) of the second planetary gear. When the vehicle is driven in a regenerative mode, the braking energy and the inertial energy are transmitted to the second motor part through the second planetary gear. |
