DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING MOLD NARROW SIDE IN CONTINUOUS CASTING PROCESS AND METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: A control device of the short side of a mold for continuous casting and a method thereof is provided to move the position one of the right or left short side of a mold in the direction of the short with high temperature when a nozzle is blocked, thereby securing symmetrical flow of the right and left surface of molten metal with a submerged nozzle as a center. CONSTITUTION: A control device of the short side of a mold for continuous casting includes a temperature sensing unit(110), a driving unit(150) and a controller(160). The temperature sensing unit is installed on the same horizontal line of the left and right short side(31,35) of a mold(30) and measures the temperature of the short sides. The driving unit is combined respectively with the left and the right short side and changes the positions of the short sides from side to side. The controller uses the temperature measured by the temperature sensing unit to calculate the temperature deviation between the left and right short side. The control unit moves respectively the left and the right short side of the mold in the direction of the short side with high temperature in case the calculated temperature deviation is over the predetermined standard temperature, wherein a submerged nozzle(25) is in a fixed state.
