The invention relates to a method for the computer-assisted processing of the vicinity of a vehicle (110, 210, 310, 410). In the method according to the invention, the surroundings of the vehicle (110, 210, 310, 410) are detected and surroundings data is provided by a sensor system. The surroundings data provided by the sensor system is processed by a processing unit, wherein a respective distance to objects detected in the surroundings of the vehicle (110, 210, 310, 410) by the sensor system is ascertained for specified sections of the surroundings of the vehicle (110, 210, 310, 410). A collision probability between one of the ascertained objects and the vehicle (110, 210, 310, 410) is ascertained for at least one of the specified sections of the surroundings dependent on a predicted and/or actual vehicle (110, 210, 310, 410) movement determined by processing odometric data. Finally, the surroundings of the vehicle (110, 210, 310, 410) are presented on an output unit (100), distance information between a section of the surroundings and one or a plurality of said objects being outputted for at least one of the specified sections of the surroundings by means of a graphical and/or acoustic element (115, 116; 215, 216; 315, 316; 415, 416). At the same time, the element (115, 116; 215, 216; 315, 316; 415, 416) comprises collision information on the collision probability with respect to the object. |
