A stream-based loop detection device, system and method. The method comprises: a source maintenance endpoint sending a loopback message to a destination maintenance point, the loopback message carrying stream information indicating a reverse transmission path from the destination maintenance point to the source maintenance source endpoint, and the destination maintenance point being a destination maintenance endpoint or a destination maintenance intermediate point; after receiving a loopback response message returned by the destination maintenance point, the source maintenance endpoint determining, according to a stream identification or stream information carried in the loopback response message and another preset field in the loopback response message, whether the current loopback detection is successful.
