PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for controlling parallel parking is provided to control a vehicle to be parked in a parking space behind the vehicle even when the vehicle passes the parking space which is located on a side without the on state of a switch for controlling the parking. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling parallel parking comprises: a rear sensor unit(110) using a sensor; a standard information acquisition unit(120) which recognizes a corner point of a side vehicle or obstacle and obtains the corner point and a park target by setting the park target based on the recognized corner point information; a parallel parking route setting unit(130) which sets a parallel parking route from an initial location to a park target point; and a parking control unit(140) controlling the park of the vehicle. |
