PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that increases the heat storage rate of a clathrate hydrate by adding a specific additive to a raw material aqueous solution, and controls or prevents supercooling of a clathrate hydrate.

SOLUTION: A method for increasing the heat storage rate of a clathrate hydrate of a tetra-n-butylammonium salt produced by cooling an aqueous solution containing a tetra-n-butylammonium salt includes a step of adding a tetra(iso-pentyl)ammonium salt to the aqueous solution.
