The device (100) has an ionizing device (101) for ionizing atoms or molecules, which are contained in air. An adsorption device (102) produces an electric field and adsorbs the ionized atoms or molecules. The electric field moves the ionized atoms or molecules in a direction of the adsorption device. The adsorption device includes active carbon, silicate mineral, zeolite and/or silicate gel as an adsorber material. The ionizing device includes a laser, which produces a laser beam that provides an ionization energy. The adsorber material is provided between two porous plastic plates. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an air supply system (2) a method for cleaning air in a cabin of a transportation unit.
