The switch has an electronic unit coupled with a first capacitor (44) for providing constant direct current voltage. The first capacitor is charged by a current transformer over a rectifier (32) and a diode (43). A regulation unit regulates voltage (P-FET) tapped at a tap (42a) at the rectifier. The tap is coupled with a ground (GND) over another diode (46) in the regulation unit and a resistor-capacitor (RC) combination of a resistor (48) and second capacitor (50). A regulation unit tapping point (60) between the latter diode and the RC combination is coupled with a third capacitor (16). An independent claim is also included for a method for regulating voltage provided for an electronic unit of a power switch.
