The device (1) has a retainer (6) provided for a display unit. A foot (3) comprises positioning aids (8) for ensuring arrangement of the device between goods carriers e.g. tables. The foot and retainer are arranged at a distance to each other such that detection of the display unit is optimally enabled. The positioning aids are arranged in right angle to each other. Identical recesses (7) have regions for accommodating the goods carriers. The retainer is positioned at an upper end of a height-adjustable stand (2) and has parallelogram-shaped cross-section with four identical edge lengths.
