A distance information obtaining unit (63) obtains information that is related to the distance of a subject that corresponds to the detected subject image, and that is also related to the distance from the image pickup unit (12) to the subject. A stereovision suitability evaluation unit (64) evaluates whether a subject image within the first guide frame is suitable for stereovision, on the basis of the obtained distance-related information. When the subject image within the first guide frame is evaluated as being suitable for stereovision, the display control unit (61) makes the position and/or the size of the first guide frame match those of the subject image suited for stereovision. In such a way, a user is visually assisted so that a three-dimensional image with appropriate parallax can be captured easily.
