<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform failure diagnosis of a watchdog timer without delaying a start-up time of a processing unit such as CPU to be monitored. <P>SOLUTION: In this electronic control device comprising: a processing unit 11 having a function of shifting to a sleep mode; and a watchdog timer 12 having a time counter to be reset by a pulse signal output from the processing unit at a constant period and outputting a signal having a level inverted by the occurrence of overflow, the electronic control device comprises a latch circuit 13 latching an output signal of the watchdog timer and outputting the signal obtained by the latch as a first output enable signal. The processing unit stops the output of the pulse signal before the shifting to the sleep mode, and performs the failure diagnosis of the watchdog timer on the basis of the first output enable signal output from the latch circuit after the output stop of the pulse signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
