<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: Use of model prediction control may increase switching frequency of switching modes because it is possible to change any of the switching modes to an optimum one. <P>SOLUTION: A prediction section 33 predicts a required time Ts for a norm of a differential vector between an electric current running through a motor generator 10 and command currents id*, iq* to become a threshold value r according to each of switching modes temporarily set by a mode setting section 31. A mode determination section 34 determines the longest required time Ts as a final switching mode.
