<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-cooled engine that prevents an engine wall surrounding a water pump chamber wall from being contaminated due to adhesion of engine cooling water. <P>SOLUTION: In the water-cooled engine, engine cooling water 12 leaked from a mechanical seal 7 is discharged into a water pump input pulley 4 through a leaked water inflow space 10 and a drain hole 11. A lower protrusion 13 is formed downward from a lower peripheral face part of a boss 2, in a longitudinal direction. The drain hole 11 is formed along bearings 8, 9 in a thick wall of the lower protrusion 13.
