A vehicle (100) is provided with a motor generator (130) for generating traveling driving force of the vehicle (100), and an ECU (300) for controlling the motor generator (130). The ECU (300) executes a driving force change operation for causing the vehicle (100) to travel while switching the motor generator (130) between a first state (low output state) in which a predetermined level of driving force is generated and a second state (high output state) in which driving force larger than in the first state is generated. Consequently, the energy efficiency of the vehicle (100) is improved.
