This FT diagram creation assistance device is provided with: an import unit which acquires character strings and connection relationships between ruled lines on the basis of first data which are data of an FT diagram in which a tree structure is represented using ruled lines and character strings upon a sheet of spreadsheet software, finds events included in the FT diagram and connection relationships between the events on the basis of the acquired character strings and connection relationships between the ruled lines in order to generate, on the basis thereof, second data describing the tree structure of the FT diagram using a markup language; and an editing unit which edits the second data in order to generate third data describing the tree structure of the FT diagram after editing using the markup language.
