Several sliding brushes are arranged on pair of resistive layers (7,8) along rotational direction of the commutator, and the resistive layers are provided with different resistance values. The resistivity of the resistive layer (7) in the front side along the rotation direction (6) is larger than resistivity in the back side of resistive layer (8) along rotation direction. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Rotary electric machine of starter device for internal combustion engine of vehicle (all claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# Since the heating of brushes during expiration of the electric machine is reduced, favorable current waveform can be obtained and the electrical power loss is reduced to improve the durability of the brush.
