[Also in Division Fl] A thermal regenerator comprises an electrically driven fan 2 on each side of which are stationary vanes 3, 4 so profiled that as the fan rotates, two oppositely flowing air streams are drawn through the fan, the air streams flowing in passages 8, 8a, 9, 9a respectively located on opposite sides of a central partition 5. A copper, iron or aluminium or other metalwire rotatable matrix 16 is provided to transfer heat from one air stream to the other and the matrix may as shown be located between the fan blades or alternatively (Fig. 5) it may be located below the vane assembly 4 to facilitate sound-proofing and removal for cleaning. In such case the matrix may be rotated at a different speed from that of the fan. The regenerator is intended for exchanging heat between outgoing room air and incoming fresh air.
