摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently enhance contamination resistance of an ignition plug without applying constitution change for suppressing contamination to the ignition plug. <P>SOLUTION: An ignition system 31 has the ignition plug 1, a power source 41 for electric discharge for applying voltage to the ignition plug 1, and an alternate current power source 51 for supplying alternate current power to the ignition plug 1. The ignition plug 1 has an insulator 2, a center electrode 5, a main fitting 3, a grounding electrode 27 for forming a gap 28 with a distal end part of the center electrode 5 and is attached to an internal combustion engine EN. The ignition system 31 has a control section 71 for controlling a power source 41 for electric discharge and the alternate current power source 51, the control section 71 can set an operation mode of the power source 41 for the electric discharge and the alternate current power source 51 to a gap plasma generating mode for supplying the alternate current power to a spark generated by an application of the voltage to the ignition plug 1 from the power source 41 for the electric discharge from the alternate current power source 51 and generating an alternate current plasma in a gap 28. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
