<p>The present invention provides an optical module which can be made thinner without causing transmission loss in high-speed transmission. The optical module comprises at least: an optical connector; a flexible wiring substrate including an optical semiconductor for mutually converting an optical signal and an electric signal, a semiconductor for driving the optical semiconductor, and a semiconductor for amplifying a signal from the optical semiconductor; and a cover for accommodating the flexible wiring substrate. The optical semiconductor is linearly arranged along the longitudinal direction of the flexible wiring substrate. The flexible wiring substrate is folded so as to have an upper-side section, a vertical section and a lower-side section. The optical semiconductor, the semiconductor for driving the optical semiconductor and the semiconductor for amplifying a signal from the optical semiconductor are arranged in the vertical section of the flexible wiring substrate. The optical connector is arranged orthogonally to the vertical section of the flexible wiring substrate, and is vertically arranged corresponding to the linear arrangement of the optical semiconductor arranged in the vertical section of the flexible wiring substrate.</p> |
