<p>The present invention relates to a method for inducing an immune response to influenza virus, comprising administering to a subject in need of such treatment an effective amount of a glycolipid, thereby inducing a T cell response, and treating or preventing influenza infection; and methods of identifying a glycolipid that will induce an immune response in a subject upon administration to the subject, the method comprising identifying the glycolipids isolated from a sample isolated from the subject, and which have been increased in the subject as a result of infection by an influenza virus. The invention also relates to a method for activating iNKT cells in a subject, comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a glycolipid thereby activating iNKT cells in the subject.</p> |
