<p>A starter comprises a pinion gear capable of engaging a ring gear connected to an engine crankshaft, an actuator for moving the pinion gear to a position engaging the ring gear in a drive state, and a motor for rotating the pinion gear. When vehicle speed decreases to a determined vehicle speed after stopping an engine while a vehicle is travelling, the actuator is driven prior to driving the motor, and the pinion gear engages the ring gear.</p> |
